Email notifications
See what Tensorant emails you about and who gets each email, choose which job and model updates you get, and unsubscribe from a link.
Tensorant emails you when something needs you or has finished: an invitation, a failed payment, a training run that finished, a model that went live. You choose which job and model emails you get in Settings, and you can stop any optional email from the link at its foot.
Your email settings are your own, not the organization's. They apply in every organization you belong to, and viewers can change theirs too. Emails go to your account's primary email address.
What Tensorant emails about
| Category | What it covers | Who gets it | Can be turned off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account and team | Invitations, access requests and decisions, a change of your role, removal from an organization, new API keys, deleted projects | The person it's about. Owners for new API keys, deleted projects and access decisions | No |
| Billing and limits | A plan started, changed, ending or ended, a failed payment, 80% and 100% of a monthly limit, extra seats | Owners | No |
| Job updates | Training runs, imports, evaluations, experiments and data generation that finished, failed or wait for you | The person who started the job. See Who gets job updates | Per job type |
| Models and spend | A published model is live, could not start, stops serving tomorrow or stopped; a low RunPod balance; a GPU running for hours | Owners, with two exceptions: see Models and spend | Yes |
| Getting started | A welcome and a few tips while you set up | You | Yes |
| Product updates | New features and changes, a few times a month | Every account holder | Yes |
The foot of every email says why you got it.
Job updates
| Job type | All updates | Only problems |
|---|---|---|
| Training runs | Finished, failed, needs recovery | Failed, needs recovery |
| Imports | A Hugging Face import finished or failed | Failed |
| Evaluations | An evaluation you ran on its own finished or failed | Failed |
| Experiments | Finished, failed, waiting for you to approve the next step | Failed, waiting for you |
| Data generation | Generated examples are ready, or generation failed | Failed |
Each email names the job, its project and, for a training run, the model, the GPU and how long it ran. One button opens the job in the console.
An experiment's own training runs and evaluations don't send emails of their own: the experiment's emails cover them. Neither does an evaluation started from a training run. A failed import or data generation says the reason is in Activity, where you can read it. The email doesn't repeat it, because it can quote your data.
Who gets job updates
- The person who started the job, while they are still a member of the organization.
- The owners, when that person has left the organization, or for jobs started before Tensorant recorded who started them.
- Anyone in the organization who chose All jobs in my organizations under Send updates about.
Each person gets one email per update, and only what their own settings allow.
Models and spend
| When | Who gets it | |
|---|---|---|
| "model is live" | The first time a published model can answer, with Python code that calls it | Whoever published it, or the owners if they have left |
| "models could not start" | A published model could not start and Tensorant stopped trying, with the reason. See When a start fails | Owners |
| "model stops serving tomorrow" | About a day before an always-on model ends | Owners |
| "model stopped serving" | An always-on model reached its end | Owners |
| "Your RunPod balance is below $1" | The organization's own RunPod balance fell below $1. See RunPod balance | Owners |
| "name has run for N hours" | A training run has used its GPU for 12 hours, or a deployment that serves no published model for 8 hours. Once for each | For a run, the person who started it and anyone who chose all jobs. For a deployment, the owners |
Change what you get
- Choose your name at the foot of the sidebar, then Settings. Under Account, choose Email. Or press ⌘K (Ctrl K) and choose Email under Settings. The page shows the address your emails go to.
- Under Job updates, choose Send updates about: Jobs I start (the default) or All jobs in my organizations.
- For each job type, choose All updates (the default), Only problems or Off.
- Under Other emails, switch Models and spend, Getting started or Product updates on or off. All three are on until you switch them off.
Each change is saved at once, and the console confirms "Email settings saved". Account and team and Billing and limits are listed under Always sent: they keep your account and plan in order, so they can't be turned off.
Unsubscribe from an email
Every email you can turn off has Unsubscribe at its foot, next to Email settings.
- Choose Unsubscribe. A page opens and asks, for example, "Stop job update emails?", with the address the email was sent to, partly hidden.
- Choose Unsubscribe. The page says "You're unsubscribed".
You don't need to sign in. Opening the link changes nothing until you choose the button. The link stops one category: an email about a job stops every job type, and an email about a model stops all Models and spend emails. Account and billing emails still arrive. Opening the link again shows that you're unsubscribed.
Many mail apps show an Unsubscribe button of their own next to the sender's name. It does the same in one step.
To start getting a category again, turn it back on in Settings, Email. The unsubscribe page links there with Change all email settings.
Getting started emails
Getting started emails come from Sandipan, Tensorant's founder:
- A welcome, once your organization is approved, or when you join one by invitation.
- A nudge toward the next step, if you created the organization: after a day if it has no GPU account and storage connected, after two days if it has no data, and after four days if no training run has started. A step you've already taken is skipped, and the nudges stop once the organization publishes a model.
- A note when the organization's first training run finishes, to whoever started it, and when its first published model is live, to whoever published it.
- A note after 14 days without signing in, and a last one after 30, only while nothing of yours runs on a GPU.
- One question when a subscription is cancelled.
You get at most one a day, and none between 22:00 and 07:00 in your time zone. The console reads your time zone from your browser.
Product updates
Product updates are short notes about what changed in Tensorant. They go to every account holder who hasn't turned them off, from Sandipan.
Replies reach a person
- Alerts (account, billing, jobs, models) come from Tensorant at [email protected]. Replies go to [email protected], where we read them.
- Getting started emails and product updates come from Sandipan at [email protected], and replies go straight to him.
Sign-in emails
Verification codes, sign-in codes and password resets come from our sign-in service when you sign up, sign in or reset your password. They aren't part of these settings and can't be turned off. See Accounts, organizations and roles.
What emails contain
Emails name things and say what happened: your organization, project, run, model and key names, statuses and durations. They never contain dataset rows, prompts, answers or keys. An email about a new API key shows only the key's first characters.
Emails have no tracking pixels, and their links aren't rewritten. Links in getting started emails and product updates carry a tag that names the email, so we can count visits that came from it.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Getting started emails | At most one a day, none between 22:00 and 07:00 your time |
| Monthly limit warnings | Once a month for each limit, at 80% and at 100% |
| GPU running for hours | Once for each training run or deployment |
| Model is live | Once for each published model |
When something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| You don't get job update emails | In Settings, Email, check that the job type isn't Off or Only problems. Emails go to whoever started the job: to hear about everyone's, choose All jobs in my organizations. Check your spam folder too. |
| This link is not valid on the unsubscribe page | The link is incomplete or was changed. Use Change all email settings, or copy the whole link from the email again. |
| This page could not load | Choose Try again. |
| "That change could not be saved" | The setting went back to what it was. Try again in a minute. |
| You get no email from Tensorant at all, not even account emails | Your address bounced, or an email from us was marked as spam, and we stopped sending to it. Marking one as spam also turns off every optional email. Write to [email protected] from another address to have it sent to again. |
| No verification code or password reset email arrives | Check your spam folder, then try again. These come from our sign-in service, not from these settings. |
